If you enjoy playing classic Game Cube fighting games then the Melee at Mohawk Club is right for you. Members gather every Monday in the MSA’s clubs room from 2 to 4 p.m. to challenge each other in a game Super Smash Brothers.
“If you want to come, bring a Game Cube controller and even if you don’t have one we have lots that people can use. We just have fun playing games,” said founder Thomas Catchpole.
The Melee club welcomes new members who are interested in a friendly and competitive place to play. “It’s just super casual, it’s a really relaxed setting. I don’t feel pressured or anything here and it’s a really friendly environment,” said club member Benjamin Cruz.
The club has taken off in the past year and the members are looking forward to seeing it continue to grow.
“We have a Facebook group “Melee at Mohawk” so if you just type that in the search bar you will be able to find us,” said Catchpole.
Members such as Cruz were happy to find that there was such a large following of Melee fans at Mohawk.
“It’s just a bunch of people, girls and guys getting around to playing some classic video games. No screaming, no controller throwing or rage quitting or anything like that it’s just plain fun.”
